In fulfilling its mission to “achieve and celebrate a more welcoming, multicultural Westport/Weston community,” TEAM Westport sponsors a variety of events.

TEAM Westport Conversations

TEAM Westport creates community-wide conversations on related subjects, some in cooperation with the Westport Library.  Before and after the 2008 Presidential election, for example, the series focused on “Race and Politics.”

TEAM Westport uses Open Space Technology to structure these conversations.  This approach means those who attend select the questions and topics to be discussed as well as decide on what actions or follow-up, if any, they wish to take.

TEAM Westport encourages Conversation participants to share their experience with friends and colleagues.  We hope participants return to future Conversations and invite them to bring others with them next time as well.

To see the notes for each conversation, click on the title below.

August 4, 2008 – “Are We Ready for an African American President?”

October 27, 2008 – “Has the Presidential Campaign in Westport Gone Beyond Race?”

December 9, 2008 – “How Will Obama’s Election Affect Race and Intolerance in Westport?”

June 30, 2009 - Sonia Sotomayor for Supreme Court Justice: Good Nomination or Bad?

September 17, 2009 - "The Gates Incident - Could It Happen in Westport?"

November 4, 2009 -

"College, Life and Multiculturalism: Are Westport's Students Ready?"
